As you may have deduced, this website is still in progress and much is still missing. However, I felt I should at least put a bit of information here for viewers to see.
I have loved horses ever since I was a toddler and have spent the best portion of my life with them - as a rider, an instructor and trainer, and as an artist/designer. They have been my friends, my family, and my constant companions.
I cannot imagine a life without my equine friends. I have ridden competitively and have taught hunt seat and dressage and run a show barn for many years. I guess I've tried just about everything and anything that can be done on or with a horse! But, I am still amazed each day at the beauty of horses and hope to portray them in an original way - using saturated color and negative space as an integral part of my work. Artistically, I am most interested in the interpretation of the reflected light on a horse’s coat and tack and I feel this shows especially well in my paintings of driving horses.
I started my own graphic design company specializing in equine art in 1984 and call it Equine Design, using my wood cut, intaglio, and screen prints as the basis for my items. However, I am now focusing on my paintings which give me much more creative freedom. Twenty seven years ago I was involved in a side impact auto accident which made me unable to ride anymore and I am now putting that energy into my artworks. I hope that it shows! I thank the Lord for giving me another opportunity to continue my lifelong love affair with the horse.
I have been privileged to spend my life with horses and hope that I convey an understanding of the horse, of his emotions as well as his grace and athleticism, and most of all, the grandeur and dignity of my friend – the horse.
All paintings are framed with conservation grade materials. In addition, the glazing is a museum grade 98% UV resistant acrylic product which makes shipping much safer. Prices shown are for framed works (including any special matting or fillet work and acrylic glazing) unless otherwise stated but do not include shipping expenses.
Most of my paintings will be available in a premium grade giclee limited edition print at the exact or nearly exact size of the originals. These editions will be limited to 100 of each print. If you're interested in obtaining more information about purchasing a giclee, please contact me through the "contact the artist" button on the main menu.
I realize that it is extremely difficult to make a decision about something like this from a photo on the internet. If you are interested, I can send you a 4x6 photo of the piece you are interested in which shows the detail a bit better, and may help you decide if that work is the one for you! Just drop me a line and let me know you're interested.
And, please contact me if you are interested in a layaway on an original or giclee print. Everyone has had to tighten their belts, but that's no reason you can't indulge in something as wonderful as a piece of art that quite simply moves you. We can discuss terms and try to work out a way for you to own a very special work forever!
