whippet study

This is another gorgeous whippet from my friends at Shannon Down Whippets in S.C. Her name is Cecilia (Shannon Down Atonement). She's a real beauty! I tried something I've never done before with her - I attempted to do a portrait as an age progression. That is to say, to make her look as she would as an adult and not as the puppy I knew. I'm not sure I did a really great job, but it was an interesting process! I'm going to try to be brave enough to get a photo of her as she ages and see how close I came to the "real thing"!

Indigo Friesian completed!

Indie, as I call him - is now done. He was a lot of fun while still providing that creative angst I seem to have with all my work. I wish I had a better photo because in the photo he appears a bit lighter than he really is, but the background, while pale - is much more pronounced than it appears in the photo. So, when he is scanned I think he will look a bit more like "himself"! Nevertheless, he is now going to spend some time drying and being sealed and then he'll be ready for a new home!

Latest Indigo Friesian

Today I got the background started on this little blue boy. I just wish I could get a better photo of it. It's kind of frustrating to see how washed out it is in my photos, but I guess you can get an idea of what it's like. I'm afraid that until it's scanned it will just have that "not quite there" look about it. I do want it to be pale because he is standing in extremely bright sunlight, but in the photo you really can't see much. Sorry! I wish it was a better photo.

Indigo Friesian - a bit further

Thought I'd just put up a new photo of the friesian work. He's coming along but still plenty to do.

Indigo Friesian painting

From blue to indigo!
Well, I've decided to start a blog. I always have more to say about my works as they go along and there is never room below them to write enough. So, this seemed like a good idea and I thought I'd give it a try! I guess this is a "test" page to see if I can do it properly, and if so, I will try to add things regularly! This is the painting I'm working on now. He was first going to be called "Blue Friesian" but as you can see,  he has sort of migrated over to the indigo side, so I've changed his name.
